Le origini si sfumano nella leggenda secondo la quale il castello sarebbe stato costruito a partire dal 1272, in seguito alla distruzione del castello di Fornoli, situato nella collina antistante verso settentrione.
Il complesso è situato a 420 s.l.m. ed a 2 chilometri da Roccastrada. Dal castello si può vedere tutta la vallata sottostante ed il mare. La roccia con cui fu costruito è chiamata "trachite" ed è una tipica roccia vulcanica con cui sono stati costruiti molte borghi, monasteri e castelli della zona.
Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale il castello fu pesantemente danneggiato. Il padre della signora Iolanda (l'attuale proprietaria dei due appartamenti che vengono affittati) lo acquistò ed incominciò il lungo e faticoso compito di ristrutturazione.
Alla morte del padre il castello passò in proprietà ai suoi 6 figli che attualmente vi abitano. Iolanda ed il marito si sono riservati un piccolo bilocale che non usano sempre: preferiscono che siano gli ospiti a godere degli appartamenti più grandi e ad apprezzare le sensazioni che solo un castello così particolare può trasmettere.

La Duchessa E' l'appartamento posto al primo piano a cui si accede percorrendo delle antiche scale situate vicino al vecchio forno per il pane.
Una volta salite le scale, prima di entrare in casa, vi è la possibilità di ammirare il bellissimo panorama che circonda il castello: boschi, paesi lontani, colline ed il mare.
La peculiarità di questo appartamento è la presenza di una veranda chiusa a vetri molto panoramica. I due lati della veranda hanno tante finestre a vetri da cui è possibile non solo vedere la piazza del castello, ma anche il panorama intorno al castello.
Le altre stanze sono rappresentate da una cucina con camino, piccolo bagno con doccia e una camera matrimoniale. Nella veranda è presente anche un divano letto matrimoniale.
L'arredamento de "La Duchessa" è molto semplice.

L'arredamento dei due appartamenti è semplice ma, anch'esso come il castello, è molto antico. Gli appassionati di antichità e di storia apprezzeranno sicuramente quest'antico castello.

  IL CASTELLO According to a legend, the building of the Castle started in 1272 after the Fornoli castle, on the opposite northern hill, was destroyed.
"Il Castello" was built on a hill 420 metres high which is 2 km from Roccastrada. The castle has a beautiful view on the whole valley below as far as the sea. It was built with "trachyte", a typical volcanic stone which was used to build villages, monasteries and castles in that area.
During World war II, it was seriously damaged. Ms Jolanda's father (Jolanda is the owner of the two flats that can be rented) bought it and began the hard and long task of refurbishing it.
When he died the castle was inherited by his 6 children, who live there at the moment. Jolanda and her husband kept a small two-room flat for themselves which they do not always use. They prefer the guests to stay in the bigger flats as they can make them enjoy better the castle atmosphere!

La Duchessa "La Duchessa" is the first floor flat which can be reached by going up a flight of ancient stairs near the old oven.
Before you get into the flat, after going up the stairs, you can enjoy the beautiful view around the castle: the woods, the far away villages, the hills and the sea.
This flat has a very special and characteristic veranda which is fully enclosed by glass panes and which has a splendid panoramic view. The two sides of the veranda have got lots of glass windows from which you can enjoy the view not only of the castle square but also of the valley around it.
This flat has got a kitchen with a fireplace, a small bathroom with a shower and a double bedroom. There is also a double sofa bed in the veranda. This flat is simply furnished but, like "La Castellana", with antiques.
People who love ancient times and history will surely appreciate this beautiful castle.

IL CASTELLO Der Ursprung dieser Burg geht nach der Legende auf das Jahr 1272 zurück, wonach sie nach der Zerstörung der Burg von Fornoli auf dem im Norden davor liegenden Hügel gebaut worden wäre.
Die Burg liegt 420 m über dem Meer 2 km von Roccastrada entfernt. Von der Burg aus kann man über die ganze Tiefebene bis zum Meer sehen. Der Stein, mit dem die Burg gebaut worden ist, nennt sich Trachyt. Dieses typische Vulkangestein wurde in der Gegend häufig verwendet, um die kleinen Dörfer, Klöster und Burgen zu bauen.
Während des zweiten Weltkriegs wurde die Burg schwer beschädigt. Iolandas Vater (die Besitzerin der zwei zu vermietenden Wohnungen) kaufte die Burg und begann mit den harten und langen Restaurierungsarbeiten. Nach dem Tod von Iolandas Vater erbten seine 6 Kinder die Burg, die auch heute noch dort wohnen. Iolanda und ihr Mann haben für sich selbst eine Zweizimmerwohnung reserviert, die sie aber nicht immer bewohnen. Die größeren Wohnungen gehören den Gästen, in denen diese das Wohngefühl in einer Burg voll genießen können.

La Duchessa ist die Wohnung im ersten Stock und erreichbar über die alte Treppe neben dem Backofen. Vor der Eingangstür stehend hat man einen wunderschönen Blick auf die, die Burg umgebenden Wälder und Hügel bis zum Meer. Die Besonderheit dieser Wohnung ist ein Wintergarten, von dem aus man nicht nur den Burghof sondern auch das Panorama um die Burg genießen kann.
Die anderen Räume sind die Küche mit Kamin, ein kleines Bad mit Dusche und ein Doppelbettzimmer. Im Wintergarten steht auch ein Doppelschlafsofa.
Die Einrichtung der zwei Wohnungen ist einfach, aber so alt wie die Burg. Die Liebhaber von Antiquitäten und Geschichte werden sicherlich diese alte Burg zu schätzen wissen.
